3-year Havoc team captain Dom Procopio hangs up his skates

A Huntsville Havoc legend has decided to hang up his skates. Three-year team captain and 5-year Havoc veteran Dom Procopio made the announcement this week.
Procopio joined the team in 2021.

Dom Procopio announces retirement

Procopio took the role of captain in 2023, and finished a career that was marked by leadership, toughness and a relentless work ethic.
“Thank you from the little kid who always wanted to be a hockey player. Thank you from the teenager who was always cut and looked over. Thank you from the young man who came to this city immature with hair down to his shoulders and was trying to prove himself. Thank you for everything. You’ve made my dreams come true.”

A Michigan native, Procopio started his hockey career with the Brookings Blizzard of the North American Hockey League in 2015. He played in the NAHL for three seasons before attending the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, where he played in 41 games for the River Hawks.
He signed with the Havoc after leaving UMass-Lowell. Some more tidbits on Procopio:
- Played 258 games with the Havoc
- Recorded 86 points while accumulating 388 penalty minutes
- Aside from 3-game a stint with the Worcester Railers of the East Coast Hockey League, Propcopio spent his entire pro career with the Havoc.
- Made the NCAA Hockey East All-Academic team
