This grant program requires ALDOT to set aside a minimum of $10 million of the state’s share of gas tax revenue, which then goes towards local projects. 11 projects were chosen as part of the second round of grant money distribution—and G. Carpenter road was one of them.

Nearly half a mile stretch of G. Carpenter Road will be getting resurfaced and have its drainage improved. In addition to the grant, $71K of local funds are going towards the repairs, for a total project cost of $392K.

ALDOT’s Annual Grant Program has awarded more than $81 million since its creation in 2019.
