4 amazing August hikes in the Huntsville area you should try

August in North Alabama may be pretty warm for most folks’ liking, but it is also a great month to get outdoors and experience nature. And you can do just that during these guided hikes along some of the area’s best nature preserves.

Check out these guided hikes happening in August here in the Huntsville area:

Green Mountain – Aug. 3

The first of our guided August hikes in the area is happening Aug. 3 at Green Mountain Nature Preserve. This hike, along Green Mountain’s Alum Hollow Trail, will take hikers to Alum Falls and Alum Cave, two scenic spots on the preserve.

Foraging Hike at Harvest Square – Aug. 10

Join Forager Casey Lanier on a slow-paced hike that will be determined the day of the event to discover what can be harvested from nature.

Chapman Mountain – Aug. 10

This hike will give participants the opportunity to get out and see the upper elevations of Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve. 

Blevins Gap South – Aug. 24

This hike will start at the Blevins Gap Trailhead and begin by climbing a short section of the Bill and Marion Certain Trail. Then you’ll take the Sugar Tree Trail downhill to where it meets the Smokerise Trail.
