4 ways to enjoy outdoor movies all summer long

Looking for a way to enjoy a movie while taking advantage of warm summer weather? You’re in luck—the Huntsville area has lots of opportunities for you to do just that.

Here’s the programming for outdoor movies all summer long:

1. Madison Public Library Outdoor Movie Series

The Madison Public Library is hosting a “Summer of 1982” themed movie series every other Friday through June and July. The event is free, but Lawler’s BBQ will be available for purchase if you need a bite to eat. Movies begin at 6:30PM, and the schedule looks like this:

  • June 10: Raiders of the Lost Ark
  • June 24: Poltergeist
  • July 8: Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
  • July 22: Tron

2. Movies in the Park Downtown

Downtown Huntsville, Inc., in partnership with Meta, is hosting free movies all month long at Constitution Hall Park. Piper and Leaf and a different, themed food vendor will be available for each event, which also feature local musicians and take place on Friday nights from 7:30-10PM. Here’s the lineup:

  • June 10: Big Hero 6
  • June 17: Honey, I Shrunk the Kids
  • June 24: The Parent Trap (1999)

3. Movies in the Park at Providence

The Village of Providence is hosting monthly free movies in the park through July this year. You’re encouraged to grab dinner or a drink at one of Providence’s local spots before heading to the park at sundown to enjoy a movie. Here are the movies coming up:

  • June 17: Encanto
  • July 22: Sing 2

4. Visit the Cinemagic Theatre

If you’re up for a little drive, why not head to the drive in? The closest drive-in theater to Huntsville is the Cinemagic Theatre in Athens. Ticket prices start at just $6 for a matinee show and top out at $8/adult for an evening show.
