4th of July travel: what gas prices look like right now

Gas prices statewide have seen a decrease in the last week, which is good news for those of us who plan to travel this week for the Independence Day holiday.
According to AAA Alabama, gas prices in the state have fallen about 9 cents a gallon over the last week, and have decreased about 6 cents a gallon in the Huntsville metro in that time. Here’s more info ahead of the holiday weekend:
Madison County gas prices match state average

The average price per gallon in Madison County stands at $2.78, close to the state average of $2.79 per gallon.
Average gas prices in neighboring counties look like this right now:
- Limestone County: $2.785
- Marshall County: $2.746
- Morgan County: $2.753
- Jackson County: $2.836
- Franklin County, TN: $2.760
- Lincoln County, TN: $2.628
The highest average price in Alabama is Perry County at $3.10 per gallon. The lowest prices are in Lauderdale County, at an average of $2.72.
