New businesses continue opening in the Rocket City every week.

Here are five new spots opening soon, plus two businesses we’re sad to say goodbye to.

1. Squeeze Massage

Squeeze Massage will open its first Alabama location at MidCity this month. The business, created by Drybar, is expanding this national footprint by opening 85 new locations this year.

When: Opening Fri., Jan. 26

2. Whimsical Parties By Tiffany

Check out Whimsical Parties by Tiffany for all your extravagant picnic needs. They offer luxury bubble tents, teepees, artisanal cheeses and delicious dessert packages to create one-of-a-kind experiences.

3. Rocket City Dog Bar

We’ve been so excited to watch Rocket City Dog Bar take over Salty Nut‘s former location. The new beer spot opened last Friday–check it out!

4. Electric Luck Tattoo

Electric Luck Tattoo is currently closed while they make the finishing touches to their new space, but they plan to open the doors of their new location soon.

5. River City Pickers

River-City Pickers, an antique store in Decatur, will move locations later this year.

When: March 2024
Where: Near the Ollie’s + Foodland shopping center on the Beltline.

Business closings

The Bakingtist closed its doors this past Sunday after a year in business. Cooking and baking classes will now take place in the former bakery’s location on Homles Ave.

Fusion Barbecue

Fusion Barbecue will close at the end of the month, according to an employee of the restaurant. The unique barbecue spot opened in May 2022.
