After spending just five minutes with Lauren Harris and Jennie Powell, I knew they were a dream team. These two besties perfectly balance each other out, and I could definitely see them running their own HGTV-style reality show.
Read on to learn more about their dynamic and how they’re innovating the paint and sip industry at Pinot’s Palette.
1. Pinot’s Palette is woman + minority owned
After being best friends for many years, Jennie and Lauren became business partners.
Longtime painters at at Pinot’s Palette, Lauren and Jennie had become friends with the then-owners. When the pair learned that the owners were considering selling the business, they decided to put in an offer.
With distinct backgrounds, they offer unique perspectives to the business. Lauren works in real estate and Jennie served in the army with one deployment to Afghanistan. Under their leadership, Pinot’s Palette is veteran and minority owned.
2. The business is their hobby
Jennie and Lauren both work full-time jobs outside of Pinot’s Palette, so the business is a fun hobby and creative outlet for them.
“I love the work I do at Pinot’s Palette. After I’ve had a long or stressful day of real estate, I’m able to decompress and enter a creative mindset.”
Lauren Harris
When Lauren isn’t at Pinot’s Palette or showing homes, she’s playing with her two dogs and taking on speaking engagements. Jennie is an early riser and loves hitting the gym in the mornings.
3. They’re complete opposites, but it works
Lauren and Jennie have the yin and yang friendship you see in the movies. Lauren is extroverted; Jennie is introverted. Lauren stays up late; Jennie’s an early riser.
“I am that one person who is emailing at three in the morning, and she’ll reply ‘go to bed.’ I think that our dynamic is perfect. I love being in front of people, and she enjoys doing the work behind the scenes. I’m always engineering creative ideas and want to jump into things, but she keeps me balanced and reminds me to be more cautious.”
Lauren Harris
“Lauren has the creative brain. She generates the ideas, and I enjoy helping her think through them.”
