Do you love to garden? Are you a plant fanatic? Spring time is prime season for gardening and planting, and Huntsville has a calendar full of fun plant-related events—including sales. Check out our list.

1. Spring Into Vegetable Gardening | Virtual class

Want to grow a successful veggie garden this spring? Join Dr. Jared Barnes during this virtual class with Huntsville Botanical Garden. He’ll be sharing must-know tips and tricks on how to grow a vegetable garden in the South. Beginners as well as seasoned gardeners will benefit from this class.

2. Gardening in Containers | Virtual class series

Want a garden, but don’t have the outdoor space for it? You can still grow beautiful plants, fruits and veggies in containers, and this virtual class will teach you how. This series with the Huntsville Botanical Garden will consist of five comprehensive virtual classes about all things plants and container related.

3.  Master Gardeners of North Alabama Spring Plant Sale

Master Gardeners of North Alabama Inc. are once again hosting their Spring Plant Sale in Huntsville. Gardeners will have a wide variety of plants to choose from with traditional favorites and new specimens that you can take home.

Have questions about the plants on sale? Several master gardening experts will be available throughout the day to answer questions about gardening procedures, lawn growth and soil amendments.

4. Hypertufa Class | In-person class

If you need more pots to keep up with your growing plant addiction, why not learn how to make them at home? With Huntsville Botanical Garden’s in-person Hypertufa Class, you can. Made by combining Portland cement, perlite, peat moss and water, Hypertufa pots are fun and easy-to-make containers for your home garden.

During this class, you’ll learn the step-by-step process on how to make Hypertufa containers, plus make a flower pot to take home with you that day.

5. Considerations for Proper Tree Care | In-person class

Learn how to maintain healthy, stress-free trees in your backyard with proper tree selection and care practices. This indoor class will review basic tree physiology and cover several important aspects of tree care.

  • Cost: Members – $35 I Non-Members – $60

6. The Greater Morgan County Builder’s Home & Garden Show

Just a short drive from Huntsville is the GMCBA’s Home & Garden Show. If you’re looking for landscape ideas that will make your home stand out, this is the event for you. Vendors will present the latest trends in custom home building, home decoration from furniture to flooring, landscaping and more. 

7. Hosta and Companion Plant Sale

The Hosta Society of North Alabama is having a plant sale this spring with some of the club member’s favorite companion plants as well as many hard-to-find varieties. So, add to your plant collection and don’t miss the event this May.
