Huntsville’s music scene is alive and well—here are 7 local bands that rose to the top as favorites of many.
Your local band recommendations
1. Them Damn Dogs
One highly repeated recommendation is Them Damn Dogs. As an Athens native, even I have heard the name around Huntsville for years.
Them Damn Dogs are a spunky, upbeat alt rock band that formed in 2012. They’ve been performing original music for years and have established a name for themselves in the music community.
One local music lover shared this thoughts:
“Them Damn Dogs are probably the fave by show attendance, but there’s tons of good ones here.”

2. The Envied
Several shouted out The Envied as one of Huntsville’s best bands. This genre-defying band blends melodic rock with subtle electronic undertones with influences of European rock.
3. Element XI
This R&B Soul band just release a new single, “Run to Me.” Their blend of electro-funk-hop soul has garnered them lots of local fans since they were founded in 2012. Their focus is promoting inclusivity and positivity through their performances.
4. Wanda Band
I’ve seen Wanda perform a few times at Gold Sprint and am always amazed. The singer-songwriter band encapsulates raw human emotion and experience with warm, soft melodies and catchy, original songs.
Wanda has made a name for herself across the Southeast and has been a vital figure in the local music scene.
“I’m so thankful to be a part of the Huntsville music scene.”
Wanda Wesolowsk
5. The Band Silhouette
One of my personal favorites recommended by you—The Band Silhouette. This fun post-indie rock group started in Auburn as a cover band before quickly making a name for themselves in the local music scene. Now based in Huntsville, The Band Silhouette have released several upbeat original singles.
6. Quantaphonics
Many of you wanted us to know about Quantaphonics, a local 13-piece progressive soul band. This lively group just performed at Mars Music Hall and are also the founders of Chill Fest, Huntsville’s winter music + arts festival.
7. Common Man
The charming Common Man band is composed of the husband-wife duo, Compton and Meredith. Common Man has toured the Southeast sharing their entrancing neo-folk melodies and garnering over 2,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.
