8 new million-dollar-plus construction permits approved in Alabama, May 24th

We’ve got the inside scoop on 8 new million-dollar-plus construction permits awarded to contractors in Alabama last week, including several big projects in Huntsville’s MidCity District. Keep reading for information like contractor names, contracts, permits values, project addresses and much more.

1. The Foundry at Stovehouse

  • Project Address: 3800 Governors Drive Northwest, Huntsville
  • Project: New Building, The Foundry B & D
  • Owner of Project: The Beach Company
  • Contractor/Builder: Weiland Corporation

Feeling déjà vu? You’re not alone. We previously wrote about The Foundry at Stovehouse when it was announced that Charleston-based The Beach Company had broken ground on two exciting developments in Huntsville—The Range and The Foundry. Now, two of the permits needed for The Foundry to move forward have been approved.

Located to the west of downtown Huntsville, The Foundry is a brand-new mixed-use development in Huntsville. Residents will have easy access to all the fun activities in the area, including The Stovehouse (an old factory transformed into a complex with live music, restaurants and event spaces) and Campus 805 (the home for some of Huntsville’s favorite breweries). Once complete, The Foundry will have 342 multifamily apartments (including 14 rentable townhouses), a restaurant, retail spaces and more.

Compass Living is developing a massive mixed-use apartment community, designed for empty-nesters looking to create an active lifestyle. Located within the bustling MidCity District in Huntsville, Encore MidCity will include 244 luxury apartment homes, as well as 11,500+ square-feet of retail space. Inside, you’ll find several dining options, an art gallery + maker’s space, luxury resident services and much more. Compass Living expects to open Encore MidCity in 2022.
