The hometown Alabama A&M University (AAMU) Bulldogs are off to a fiery 6-2 start this 2026 football season — and the team is continuing to get national recognition for it!

In the latest Black College Football Poll, the Bulldogs are ranked second in the country, only trailing in-conference rival Jackson State. This ranking only includes HBCUs around the country, and is separate from the AP Top 25 Poll you might be familiar with.

AAMU received 372 total points and six first-place votes. Voting is conducted by a panel of coaches and media members, each of whom submit a Top 10 with a first-place vote worth 10 points, second place 9, and so on down to one point for 10th.
