Alabama A&M’s annual Scholarship Recognition bus tour begins Sunday

This Sunday, Alabama A&M University will begin its annual Scholarship Recognition and Promotional Tour, a week-long tour through the state starting in South Alabama and ending back in North Alabama March 6.

The tour will include visits to more than a dozen host high schools around Alabama. Here’s what to know:

The 11th Annual Scholarship Recognition and Promotional Tour

The week-long tour will encompass visitations to several host high schools around Alabama, where Admissions and Student Affairs staff, alumni and students will witness President Daniel K. Wims present more than $20 million in scholarships to students. 

The host high schools will be regional hubs that serve as the central meeting place for several nearby schools. Last year, AAMU dispensed nearly $16.3 million to nearly 800 recipients at more than 100 of the state’s high schools during the tour. 

Traveling in the custom Bulldog Coach, the AAMU team for the week will include Wims, student leaders, faculty, alumni, and Admissions and Financial Aid staffers.This year’s tour will showcase performances of “The Bulldog Beat,” by AAMU theater students.

The Scholarship Recognition and Promotional Tour will make stops at:

  • Monroe County High School
  • Enterprise High School
  • Dothan High School
  • Central High School of Phenix City
  • Carver High School in Montgomery
  • Selma High School
  • Greensboro High School
  • Greene County High School
  • Northridge High School
  • Bessemer High School
  • Ramsay High School
  • Decatur High School
  • Anniston High School

The statewide tour concludes with a North Alabama scholarship reception at 6PM at the Knight Center on the AAMU campus.
