Blacksmiths in Huntsville area provide unique art experience
Reading time: 2 minutes

We all know that Huntsville is home to some fabulous artists and makers — in a wide variety of media — but did you know that the Huntsville area is home to some extremely talented blacksmiths?
That’s right, the art of the forge is alive and well here in the Rocket City. Here are some we think you should check out if you want to learn the craft:
Warrior Forge
If you have ever wanted to try your hand at the blacksmith trade, visit Warrior Forge at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment. Mark Steenbergh is the resident blacksmith at Warrior Forge and after 22 years in the Army, decided to hone his craft while teaching others the art as well. You can browse products or sign up for a blacksmithing class at Mark’s website below.
Athens Forge
The Athens Forge, a member of the Alabama Forge Council (www.alaforge.org), is a group of both amateur and professional individuals dedicated to preserving and promoting the knowledge and skills of blacksmiths and their craft.
Burritt On The Mountain

Burritt on the Mountain offers a variety of blacksmithing classes throughout the year, teaching participants to make some cool items — candle holders, grilling tools, ornaments and more — with extensive instruction from local blacksmiths.
