Blue Origin expansion among new $1M+ building permits

Of the 15 new building permits issued across Alabama this past week for construction projects exceeding $1 million, six were for projects here in the Huntsville area.

One of the priciest permits in the state was a $3.9 million permit for Blue Origin’s ongoing expansion here in Huntsville.

Blue Origin announced in January 2026 it is investing $71.4 million to expand operations in Cummings Research Park and Jetplex Industrial Park, establishing Alabama as home to its thruster production and creating 105 jobs.

The new permit issued last week lists Fite Construction as the lead contractor.
