We’re back again with the “Huntsville hidden gems” series—this time, coffee shops. We shared your restaurant and brewery picks, and now we’re bringing you locals’ insider choices for a cup of joe.

1. Flint River Coffee Company

This quaint little coffee shop sits in a peaceful area with a welcoming atmosphere. An old farmhouse transformed into a coffee shop, Flint River Coffee Company feels like a home away from home. Inside, you’ll find a reading room in an old bedroom, scattered wooden tables mixed with leather couches and quirky quote decor scattered on the walls.

With specialty drinks like the Crimson Tide and Blueberry Cobbler, this coffee shop exudes Southern charm that’s hard to resist.

2. Good Company Cafe

While this may be a popular lunch spot, did you know they also have a full coffee menu? This woman-owned cafe has a range of services and options for everyone. My personal favorite is a caramel cold brew but they offer everything from peppermint and lavender options. Swing by to check out their seasonal drinks!

3. Onward

Onward is a true hidden gem—literally on wheels! This coffee cart company first made its mark at local pop-up events at The Huntsville Flea and Lumberyard. Now, they’re gearing up to open their first storefront this summer. One of our very own had this to say about Onward:

“I loved Onward’s lavender vanilla matcha. The owners are so kind and are opening a storefront soon! Every cup is joined by a personable conversation which made my matcha even sweeter.”

4. Rooster’s Crow Coffee

Rooster’s Crow Coffee Roastery is a hidden gem tucked away on Whitesburg Drive. They proudly roast the coffee in-house and have a wide range of choices. Don’t worry, though, the employees have their own handcrafted, unique favorites. I tried the “Snickering Oats” drink, which was amazing.

Inside the shop, they offer merch, handcrafted mugs and an impressive collection of vintage coffee grinders.

5. Dragon’s Forge Cafe

This mystical cafe is located right inside Lowe Mill. If you need an escape from your day-to-day routine, stop by Dragon’s Forge for a fantasy-themed drink! Their lattes and house roast are even made with a special bean blend created from the Huntsville roastery, Kaffeeklatsch.

Bonus People’s Choice: Angel’s Island

You can’t miss this brightly painted coffee shop with the perfect beachy vibes. While this may be a more well-known spot, several locals listed this as their favorite hidden gem in town.

At just 23, Angel Hussain brought her dream to life with Angel’s Island Coffee. Raised in Fiji where her family served as missionaries, she discovered her love for coffee and community. Alongside her father and business partner, Allen, she opened the shop to serve quality brews and create a warm, welcoming space for connection.
