About Cozy Corner Plants

Cozy Corner just opened in a historic Five Points building and is ready to spread its roots throughout the city. The store boasts a wide array of plant options, including popular ones like begonias and succulents. However, their specialty is rare plant breeds.

The store is home to a variety of plant types that are not found anywhere else in town, filling a noticeable gap in the city’s plant community. Some of these rares breeds are their various plant species with variegated (multi-colored) leaves—a coveted plant quality.

Despite the owners’ personal affection for rare plants, they also sell beginner-friendly species. One of my favorite parts of the store was their succulent table, full of plants that were more my speed.

The concept behind Cozy Corner Plants began years ago when Deborah and John Dickson started filling their home greenhouse with plants. That quickly led to a home full of plants and appearances at pop-ups and conventions across the Southeast.

Their adoration for plants grew even more, and the idea for a brick and mortar business was born. Now, Cozy Corner Plants is in the old Green Lady building. Inside, the Dicksons are proud to house both a variety of rare plants and a curated environment.

“One customer came in and said ‘it’s more than a plant store—it’s a plant gallery.’ I think that really describes the place well because we try to display our plants so that you can see all of them—floor to ceiling—from inside the store and through the windows.”

While both Deborah and John work full-time “real” jobs, their passion for plants is very real, too. The store is laid out so that each plant is living in the ideal temperature, light and humidity. They visit the store daily to ensure every plant is properly taken care of and ready for its forever home.
