Huntsville’s District 1 this year is putting a little friendly competition into decorating houses for Christmas. So if you live in this district, it’s time to get creative and pull out all of those lights and props you want adorning your yard and house.

Huntsville City Council member Devyn Keith is organizing the contest — dubbed “Deck the District” — which includes prizes for first, second and third-place entries, as well as the all-important bragging rights.

Whether you prefer classic colors or inflatables, residents are encouraged to make spirits bright by going all out for the season. The contest is open to District 1 residents only.

Entering the contest is easy – complete the online entry form and attach photos of your home by Thursday, Dec. 14. Properties will be judged Dec. 15-18.

The top-three winners will receive acknowledgement at the Dec. 21 Huntsville City Council meeting.

“One of the best parts of the holiday season is seeing how people decorate their homes. This is a fun way for people to show pride in their community while spreading a little cheer.”
