City of Arab breaks ground on new rec center

The City of Arab broke ground today on the new Arab Recreation Center. The new recreation center will provide the city with a new venue to host athletic events that can support multiple athletic tournaments across several sports seasons and can serve as a venue for other events.

New rec center coming to Arab
This new rec center opens the door for a bevy of recreational opportunities for the City. Here are some tidbits about the Aran Recreational Center:
- The 38,000-square-foot athletic facility will support several of the most in-demand sports events, such as basketball, volleyball and other indoor sports.
- It includes a 26,800 square-foot sports floor separated into four competition areas, complete with spectator bleachers and court divider curtains.
- The new building also includes a concession stand, meeting space, locker rooms, a multipurpose room and offices for the Arab Department of Parks and Recreation staff.
- Construction of the new building is scheduled to be completed by Fall 2026.
