Madison has seen its share of openings in the last few years, as it is one of the fastest growing cities in the state. This past week, Madison got to experience the opening of the I-565 interchange at Town Madison, and the opening of a newly developed recreation space at Sunshine Oaks Park.
Here’s what to know:
Sunshine Oaks Park now open
Sunshine Oaks is a newly developed 40-acre recreational space designed to enhance community engagement and provide diverse outdoor activities.
The park’s official opening signifies the City’s proactive approach in prioritizing the growth of green space and connectivity in Madison.
Adjacent to the 2.5 mile Bradford Creek Greenway, the park’s 40 acres include:
- A large playground
- 3 pavilions
- Full bathroom facility
- 70+ space parking lot
- 18-hole championship disc golf course
“Sunshine Oaks was a rare opportunity in the heart of Madison to keep green space useable for Parks and Recreation activities. These 40 acres, along with our new Madison Community Center’s 30 acres, are key components in enhancing our community’s quality of life.”
Mayor Paul Finley
Sunshine Oaks Park will also be one of the hosts of the 2027 Amateur Disc Golf World Championships, along with other disc golf venues in the county.
