Foraging Hike at Chapman Mountain

(Easy / Around 2 hours, but maybe longer / 2 miles or so) Join us for a foraging hike at Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve to find out about the special plants and mushrooms you might find foraging in the summer. Forager Casey Lanier will lead you through the preserve on a route that will be determined by him.
A FEW NOTES: This hike is educational, so if you’re looking for a walk with no long stops to talk, it’s probably not what you’re looking for. The hike is scheduled to last 2 hours, but it may run long. This hike around the preserve is not intended for collection or consumption of species, but for learning about all the incredible plants and fungi we have here in North Alabama!
Hike Leader: Casey Lanier
Location: The Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve, 1263 U.S Hwy 72 East, Huntsville, AL 35811
(Directions: Coming from Huntsville, cross Chapman Mountain on Hwy 72 and U-turn at Moores Mill Road. When safe, get into the merge lane on the right (plenty of time). When the silver guard rail ends, be ready to turn right onto the paved entrance. Drive through the gate and down the gravel road to the parking area at the bottom of the hill.)
In the event this hike has to be canceled due to weather or trail conditions, we will send a notification to the email address you use to register.
