Harvest Square Birding with the Alabama Ornithological Society

Join us for a morning of birding with folks from the Alabama Ornithological Society!  AOS member (and LTNA member/supporter) Jared Sapp will lead a walk through Harvest Square Nature Preserve.

AOS Description: This will be a short bird walk at the Land Trust of North Alabama’s Harvest Square Nature Preserve. All are welcome regardless of experience. We’ll discuss a few basic aspects of finding and observing birds and walk in the area trying to see and hear as many birds as possible. Expected species are the typical resident and lingering breeding woodland and field edge birds of north Alabama, though at this date we could encounter a few birds migrating through the area.

Start location: Harvest Square Nature Preserve Educational Pavilion, Huntsville

Probable trip finish point: Same

Activity types/levels: Easy, slow pace. Walking around the ponds and trails.

Photography opportunities: Low-moderate

Special requirements/suggestions: Please bring binoculars if you have them (loaners will be available). Bug spray and suitable footwear recommended, as we’ll be walking through some wet grass. Bring water or other drinks.

Directions: Coming from Huntsville on Jordan Lane, turn right at the light onto Jeff Rd. Turn right onto Alyson Sadie Blvd where you see the Publix sign.  Follow this road to our gravel parking lot and trailhead.
