Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve
(Moderate / About 2 hours / About 2 miles or so) Bring a snack and a sketchpad/nature journal (optional) and join us for a monthly Homeschool Teen Hike! Led by Land Trust hike leader Bri Cobert, this month’s hike will focus on winter tree identification on Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve’s Terry Trail.. The group will stop during the hike to identify trees, sketch or take pictures.
This hike is for teens, ages 12 – 17. A parent or guardian must accompany each teen to the preserve, and we ask that younger siblings not attend. Parents and guardians don’t have to hike, and are welcome to stay at the pavilion.

Location: Chapman Mountain Mountain Nature Preserve – 1263 U.S Hwy 72 East, Huntsville, AL 35811
Directions: Coming from Huntsville, cross Chapman Mountain and u-turn at Moores Mill Road. When safe, get into the merge lane on the right (plenty of time). When the silver guard rail ends, be ready to turn right onto the paved entrance. Drive through the gate and down the gravel road to the parking area at the bottom of the hill.
