Nancy Noever, Co-Coordinator of the AI Symposium, explains the difference between autonomous and HITL AI like this:

“The main question the 2025 AI Symposium will answer is how humans fit into the AI workflow.

We want to understand how much control we should give to AI versus having human checkpoints on projects.”
