Our favorite local spots we ate this month: August + September 2024
It’s been two months since our last roundup of our favorite menu items at local spots.
We’ve tried so many delicious meals throughout the city over August and September. So, choosing which ones should make the list was quite difficult.
If you’re looking for somewhere new to try or see if your favorite place made the list, check out our roundup below:
Table of Contents
1. Lil Mazarra’s
“The Lemon Artichoke Ravioli at Lil Mazarra’s was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. Bursting with zesty lemon and balanced by a smooth pesto sauce and crisp pine puts, this dish was phenomenal.”

2. Oshi Poke Bowl and Sushi
I had the Over the Rainbow Roll (pictured). The best thing about Oshi is the speed of service–I appreciated how fast the rolls and nigiri came out, and you can tell the fish is super fresh!
If you’re feeling adventurous, try the scallop nigiri. Here’s a hack: ask for it spicy!

3. Wiener Von Braun
One thing I miss about living in Birmingham is the vast number of places there to get a really good hot dog. Well, I’ve found my go-to here in Huntsville.
Wiener Von Braun’s is a mobile hot dog vendor that I would put up against any dog anywhere. I recommend the chili cheese dog. Perfect.
Michael Seale, Managing Content Producer, Hville Blast
4. Honest Coffee Roasters
“The fig preserves, apple and brie on the toasted rye made for a pleasant crisp fall-esque bite. I’ve never tried the fig/apple combination before so I was skeptical, but my craving to find a new fall favorite won out (and I’m glad it did). It paired nicely with the ginger-orange fall special, which was subtle but a cozy, warm, well-flavored fall latte.”
