UNA’s new partnership with the Federal Academic Alliance (FAA) grants full-time federal employees a tuition scholarship. Since UNA offers online master’s degrees, prospects from all over the country may apply.

Amanda Sherrod—the UNA Director of University Partnerships—highlights how this partnership is unique from others:

“Most of our partnerships support employees from one company, but FAA covers all federal employees in all agencies across the United States.”

What master’s degrees can you get?

Through UNA’s partnership with FAA, you can attain your master’s degree in any discipline, but here are a few of the popular programs federal employees choose:

  • Master of Criminal Justice
  • Master of Business Administration
  • Master of Science in Nursing
  • Master of Accountancy

Recently, a UNA student earned his MBA and quickly got promoted in his federal career. Through FAA, he’s now attaining a micro-credential in Information Systems to equip him for that promotion.

Amanda explains the perks of getting a micro-credential:

“Micro-credentials are not full degrees but improve particular skills. Often, people will get promoted to manager positions and take specific classes to earn a micro-credential instead of committing to a master’s program.”

Only 30 universities in the nation have a partnership with FAA. The University of North Alabama is one of two in the South and the only college in Alabama to offer this tuition discount.

When you get your master’s through FAA at UNA, you’ll get a significant scholarship and attain access to amazing resources. Plus, you’ll work with professors who not only excel in the brick-and-mortar sphere but have been in the online game for years.

Dr. Wayne P. Bergeron—Associate Professor + Program Coordinator for the Master of Criminal Justice—explains how the university accommodates full-time federal employees:

“We offer an asynchronous program because our students work various shifts. They’re not always able to join a meeting at any point in the day. We’re cognizant of that, and we coordinate with the students to meet their needs.”
