Maryland native Madison McFerren always knew she’d have her own boutique one day, but she never thought it’d be in Huntsville, Alabama. Now, at just 25, she’s opening Ferren Boutique—the first locally owned business to open at Stadium Commons.

Find out about Madison’s vision for her dream boutique, and why she’s bringing her fashion expertise from the Big Apple to the Rocket City👇

Just next to Free People and Hattie B’s, Ferren Boutique is opening its doors Saturday, April 18.

Madison’s shop will offer “elevated everyday wear” and styling services for women of all ages.

“I’ve always enjoyed the finer things in life, and that appreciation is exactly what I hope to convey through Ferren — elevated pieces, intentional details and timeless style, all while proudly carrying on my family name.”

Originally from Maryland, Madison’s background already includes:

  • Marketing degree + fashion merchandising minor from High Point University
  • Master’s degree from Laboratory Institute of Merchandising (LIM)
  • Manager at Abercrombie + stylist at Artizia in New York City

Soon after her twin, Macy, moved down South, Madison felt a calling to move her fashion career to Huntsville (though she was a self-proclaimed “city girl” at the time).

“I’ve grown to absolutely love this city and everything there is to do. There was just the missing component of a place that I or other transplants would want to shop, or any locals who don’t prefer typical Southern style.”

Madison spent the last year filling that gap, and she says her parents are her biggest support. From her dad’s business and interior design advice to her mom’s company at clothing markets, their influence is all over the store.

Fun fact: Madison is a certified personal trainer and spends her free time trying new restaurants, working out or watching hockey.

As someone who loves a t-shirt and jeans (and doesn’t ascribe to traditional Southern boutique wear), Madison has a specific vision for Ferren: high-quality, versatile, refined staples and statement pieces. Ferren shoppers will find timeless pieces that can go from fancy dinners and church to the pottery studio or coffee shops.

“A majority of my pieces can be styled various ways, so you can rewear the same exact tank top you wore yesterday, and nobody’s going to know because of how it’s styled.”

Madison

Her collection is curated for ladies 25-60+, with selections handpicked by her and her mom (her fashion icon growing up). While sourcing, Madison places any emphasis on natural fibers and durable fabrics that can withstand heavy wear.

Ferren doesn’t stop at quality pieces—you can expect thoughtful styling to learn how to make the most of your wardrobe.

“My goal is educate the customer on why each piece is so versatile. It’s taking a step further than online shopping by building relationships with each visitor.”

In love with these displays (Elizabeth Hobbs / Hville Blast)

Madison pulled inspiration from her lifetime of travel and time in NYC to curate a welcoming and elegant shopping experience.

Vibrant Persian rugs and elegant chandeliers blend elegance and femininity with masculinity of raw steel clothing rods and walls of exposed brick. As Madison describes it, Ferren is polished and refined but not stuffy.

“It’s a perk of growing up in a family that cares about experiences—I’ve been able to take every experience and tie it into a boutique in a unique way.”
