How gas prices in Madison County compare to the rest of Alabama

One of the largest points of contention among consumers over the last few years has been the price of gasoline. Prices have decreased from considerably from their record highs in 2022 (average of $4.632/gal), with Alabama enjoying some of the cheapest gas in the country.
Those of us here in Madison County are seeing gas prices hovering right around the state average and way below the national average.
Where gas prices stand in Madison County

As of this week, the average price for a gallon of gasoline in Alabama is $2.802 — significantly lower than the national average, which stands at $3.161 per gallon.
Madison County’s gas prices stand at $2.80, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA). While that does not place us among the 10 counties with the cheapest gas, it does place us right at the state average.

- Etowah County: $2.674
- Marshall County: $2.728
- Bibb County: $2.747
- Walker County: $2.748
- Shelby County: $2.755
- Morgan County: $2.759
- Dekalb County: $2.766
- Mobile County: $2.771
- Cullman County: $2.772
- Tuscaloosa County: $2.773

- Wilcox County: $3.059
- Perry County: $3.032
- Greene County: $3.011
- Sumter County: $2.981
- Choctaw County: $2.959
- Conecuh County: $2.957
- Fayette County: $2.956
- Washington County: $2.937
- Clarke County: $2.931
- Monroe County: $2.931
According to the U.S. Energy Administration, gas prices are expected to fall, on average, approximately 10 cents per gallon this year.
