When it comes to barbecue, let’s face it, Huntsville is packed with great restaurants, and a bevy of barbecue joints in the Rocket City can stake a convincing claim to being among the best in the state. Friday, April 8, another barbecue restaurant will enter the local scene, as Luv Hawaiian BBQ is set to open on Whitesburg Drive.

So, what exactly is Hawaiian barbecue?

Hawaii is known for its unique and delicious cuisine, so Luv Hawaiian BBQ aims to bring the taste of Hawaii to Huntsville. But don’t go there expecting to order smoked Boston butt or a pulled pork plate with white sauce. This is a completely different and unique style of barbecue that combines Asian and American recipes.

Menu items at Luv include BBQ chicken, Katsu beef, mahi mahi, short ribs and chicken dishes. Meal combos are typically served with a side of rice and vegetables.

I would be remiss if I left out the delicious Hawaiian burgers on the menu. Burgers include the Mahi Burger, BBQ Chicken Burger and the BBQ Cheeseburger, each served with fries.

Appetizers on the menu include Chicken Musubi, hushpuppies, potstickers, fries and more.
