Juneteenth is Wednesday, June 19 — our national holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States — and if you are looking for ways to celebrate the occasion this year in the Huntsville area, there are plenty of options.

Here are some events scheduled in the Rocket City to celebrate Juneteenth 2024:

Greater Huntsville Juneteenth Celebration

This free Juneteenth celebration celebrates freedom, civil rights and equity while acknowledging the sacrifices people of color made to have such liberties.

Trash Pandas Negro League Tribute Night

The Rocket City Trash Pandas welcome four former Negro League players to Toyota Field for a Negro League Tribute — part of the Juneteenth celebration — on Saturday, June 8.

Joseph Marbury, Morris Marbury, Ferdinand “Chico” Rutledge and James Gray will each be honored prior the game.

Oh, Freedom 2024

Madison County will host its second annual community conversation hosted by District 6 Commissioner Violet Edwards. Community leaders will join Commissioner Edwards and Dr. Karockas Watkins of VEC to discuss the topic: The Notion of A Colorblind Society.

Orion Amphitheater’s Juneteenth Celebration Event

Enjoy live music, food trucks, unique vendors, family fun events and more at this celebration at the Orion Amphitheater.

Juneteenth Celebration at The Camp

Head out to The Camp at MidCity for the 4th Annual Juneteenth Celebration. This year’s celebration will be a two day event, starting Friday afternoon with a panel discussion and talent showcase, and the all day festival on Saturday.
