Here’s what we can now expect with the weather this week in the Rocket City
Reading time: 2 minutes

Just as we were getting used to spring-like temperatures last week, we are now bracing for some winter weather here in North Alabama over the next few days.
Here’s what to expect:
Winter weather to hit on Wednesday

The big question we have been hearing lately is “Will it snow?” Well, here’s what we now know:
We are going to experience some extreme low temperatures here in the Huntsville area over the next few days. According to WAAY-TV morning meteorologist Grace Anello, snow will start fall in the Shoals around midnight tonight, and will continue to fall into the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Anello said Franklin County up through Madison County will see up to an inch and a half of snowfall. This will start to ease up by early morning, but temperatures will hover in the 20s for most of the day.
So, what will this mean for road conditions?
“I think most roads will still be drivable for drivers who exercise caution and use an appropriate speed. Namely because we will be seeing predominantly snow with very little, if any, ice accumulations.”

Cold temperatures through the weekend

The snow and sleet are not the only worry for us here in North Alabama however. Anello said the temperatures for the rest of the week will be harsh.
“The large story here is the temperatures. Wednesday’s high temperature will sit in the low and mid-30s and feel frigid. We’re even colder Thursday and Friday mornings with ‘feels like’ temperatures in the single digits and high temperatures in the upper 20s and upper 30s each day, respectively. “

With temps this low, folks here in the Huntsville area are advised to drip their faucets, bring their pets inside and take all the cold weather precautions we have taken so far this winter.
