Holiday season in Athens features some fun + exciting events

With Thanksgiving behind us, and Christmas coming up in just a few weeks, it’s time to get in to the holiday spirit and get involved in some if the area’s holiday events.
We listed several Huntsville-area events in a previous post, but there are some pretty festive events this holiday season in Limestone County as well.
Window Decorations in Downtown Athens
Window Decoration voting is happening now through Dec. 17. Several downtown Athens merchants plan to decorate their windows, and there will be QR codes in the windows for patrons to scan and vote for their favorite. The winner will receive special recognition from Main Street and the Chamber.

Athens-Limestone County Christmas Parade
Holiday season in Athens wouldn’t be complete without one of the best Christmas parades in North Alabama. The annual Christmas Parade, presented by Bryant Bank, is a fabulous event to get into the true Christmas spirit.

Sippin’ Cider Festival
During the 12th annual Sippin’ Cider Festival, participating merchants prepare and offer complimentary sample tastings of their favorite hot cider recipe. Cider enthusiasts will vote by ballot for their favorite, and the cider receiving the most votes wins the coveted Cider Cup and bragging rights for the year.

Annual North Pole Stroll
The 9th Annual North Pole Stroll is happening throughout the entire month of December. Trees will be decorated in Athens Big Spring Memorial Park beginning Dec. 1.
