Home prices in Huntsville, Madison have decreased since last year
With the real estate market experiencing significant highs and lows nationwide, Alabama home prices remain some of the most affordable in the country.
In fact, both Madison and Huntsville saw significant decreases in median home price in August, compared to this time last year. Here’s the scoop:
Huntsville home prices down 15 percent
Huntsville’s median home prices are down 15.8 percent from this point last year. Madison has also experienced a decrease of 15 percent from August of 2023.

Housing in Alabama remains well below national average
The median home price for the state in August was $281,400, up 1.4 percent from last year. Alabama’s median home price still stands considerable lower than the national median price of $412,300, according to the Federal Reserve.
