How to celebrate National Cheese Day in the Rocket City

For those who don’t know, June 4th is National Cheese Day. No matter how you like your cheese, whether fried, grilled, melted, or whole, have a blast and check out these lactose-loving restaurants.

Grilled cheese is an American staple. One dish in particular that stands out is a mac and cheese grilled cheese sandwich at Melt, two classics hot-pressed into one.

Shepherd’s pie

At the Poppy & Parliament, you have a couple options. Try the Shepherd Pie’s with lamb, cream braised carrots, and a parsnip mash all under a crisp layer of melted cheese. Enthusiasts can go crazy where The Poppy & Parliament has a store upstairs from their eating area. You’ll find a wide assortment of, get this, cheese, jelly, jam, and more!

If shepherd’s pie and an upstairs shoppe aren’t really your style, consider visiting Domain South for the, you know, more refined taste. They have a wide assortment of wine and cheese and are, in fact, a winner of the 2022 Wine Spectator award of excellence.

Old Black Bear is known in the Huntsville area for having some of the best burgers, beer, and drinks in North Alabama. In honor of Cheese Day, try a twist on a cheeseburger with their pimento cheese handcrafted burger.

Vegan cheese

If you don’t eat dairy, are allergic or lactose intolerant, don’t worry, there’s an option for you too. The Veggie has a completely vegan Philly Cheese Patty Melt or The Classic Chee, which is their take on a cheeseburger.
