Huntsville and Birmingham are both undefeated at this early point in the 2022-23 season, with each carrying a 2-0 record into Friday night’s game.

The Havoc and Bulls do have a rivalry — predominantly because they are in the same state and same league — but to say the series between the two teams is anything close to even would be untrue.

Huntsville maintains a 23-12-1-0 record against Birmingham over the last five seasons, which makes the meetings between the two Alabama teams pretty heated. Friday night, the first home game of the season for the Havoc, should have a large and vocal crowd at Propst Arena.

The early success of both teams this season is evident in the individual scoring standings, as 4 of the top 5 scorers in the Southern Professional Hockey League thus far are Bulls or Havoc players.

Birmingham has the top two scorers in the league in Carson Rose (7 points) and Michael Gillespie (6 points). Huntsville’s Tyler Piacinteni is third in the league with 5 points, and the Havoc’s opening game star Sy Nutkevitch is fifth in the league in scoring after his hat trick against Pensacola in the team’s first game.
