The Rocket City has been named one of the 20 finalists for the All-American City Award. Hundreds of cities sent in applications to be considered, but Huntsville was selected based on our efforts to strengthen civic health and trust.
The finalists were selected by the National Civic League with the whole list here. Finalists will send delegates to Denver this June and bring their applications to life via 10-minute presentations.
Montgomery is the only other Alabama city to be named a finalist for the All-American city award — learn more about the award below 👇

More on the All-American City Award

The All-American City Award was first given out in 1949, but the origins of the National Civic League trace back even further.
It began as the National Municipal League following a gathering of respected civic leaders in 1894 (one of which was Theodore Roosevelt), with the original goal of addressing “incompetence, inefficiency, patronage and corruption in local governments.”
In the 132 years since its founding, the National Civic League has been instrumental in reforming how cities are run, including the introduction of nonpartisan elections for city council members and increased professionalism of city services.
