Huntsville foodies waited in line for hours for this new hot chicken spot

Dave’s Hot Chicken is officially open in Madison, AL. Folks were so excited that there was even a line going out the door and around the building on the grand opening, April 18. We stopped by on opening day, and here’s what you need to know:

What is Dave’s Hot Chicken

Three childhood friends originally started Dave’s with $900 combined. In 2017, their grand opening of the first location was in a parking lot in East Hollywood with folding tables and a portable fryer.

The pop-up location was a great success, and so many people were posting on Instagram, creating a huge buzz. A reporter from EATER/LA posted about Dave’s with the title, “East Hollywood’s New Late Night Hot Chicken Stand Might Blow Your Mind.”

After that article, Dave’s became a massive hit and opened their first store soon afterwards.

Nashville-hot chicken

Even though it originated in California, Dave’s Hot Chicken was inspired by Nashville-hot chicken.

There are seven different spice levels:

Level one: No spice
Level two: Lite mild
Level three: Mild
Level four: Medium
Level five: Hot
Level six: Extra hot
Level seven: Reaper

They even offer a special Dave’s sauce to dip in.

Pro tip: Mix the Dave’s special sauce with honey to dip and it is a chef’s kiss.
