Huntsville gets $10.8M grant for Resolute Way project

The City of Huntsville received a federal grant of $10.8 million to help fund the first phase of Resolute Way, a new road connecting Interstate 565 to Gate 9 at Redstone Arsenal.
Huntsville was awarded the competitive grant through the Defense Community Infrastructure Program, which addresses improving infrastructure at military installations to enhance readiness.

Resolute Way at Redstone Arsenal
Resolute Way has been a top transportation infrastructure priority for Huntsville and Redstone Arsenal, and aims to facilitate improved traffic flow at the Arsenal’s main entrance—as well as I-565 at Madison Boulevard and the Research Park Boulevard interchange.
More than 100,000 vehicles pass this area daily, city officials said. Mayor Tommy Battle included funds for this project in his recently proposed budget for the 2027 fiscal year (the city was going to pledge $2.3 million to the project initially).

This grant award will also help expedite the second phase of the project, which will reconfigure Exit 13 westbound on I-565 at Madison Boulevard, relocate Governors West at the exit to create a full access interchange that will ease congestion and improve safety in this area.
