The City of Huntsville received a gift just ahead of the holidays: a brand-new recreation center.

Located in West Huntsville, the new center will be the 17th in the Huntsville area. Huntsville officials were joined by Santa himself to celebrate the opening.

Quick facts about the West Huntsville Recreation Center:

  • 27,350 square-foot facility
  • 150 Martin Road Southwest, just west of Zierdt Road
  • Features two gymnasiums, a fitness center, multipurpose rooms and four lighted pickleball courts

“[The opening] is a meaningful step forward in creating a sense of a larger, shared community,”

Council Member John Meredith

Meredith, who has served as council member for five years, was impactful in the placement of District 5’s first recreation center.
