Huntsville ranks #1 in the top 25 tech markets for North America
Over the past few years, Huntsville has been no stranger to accolades, garnering attention as one of the best places to live in the country.
Now, North America is turning to Huntsville as the top tech market to watch in the coming years. Read on for all the details.
Why Huntsville’s #1
The CBRE report first examined the ability of the 50 largest tech markets in the U.S. and Canada to attract tech employees based on the following:
- Graduation rates
- Tech job concentration
- Tech labor pool
- Real estate + labor costs
After examining the 50 largest markets, the CRBE then created a separate list of 25 smaller tech markets to look out for in the coming years, ranking them on a different set of criteria from the larger markets.
Huntsville tops the list of the “Next 25,” followed by:
- Colorado Springs, Colorado
- Dayton, Ohio
- Halifax, Nova Scotia
- Omaha, Nebraska
Bringing business to Huntsville
It’s no wonder Huntsville ranks top on the list. According to the CBRE, tech jobs have increased 14% over the past five years to account for 24,000 positions. Plus, the average tech salary is up 13% to $9,740 over the past five years.
The rise in tech jobs can be attributed to Huntsville’s overall growth and NASA’s priority to collaborate more with private companies.
