Huntsville will celebrate its 2nd Annual Make Music Day June 21, an event adopted last year to tremendous success by the Huntsville Music Office.

Here’s what to know:

Make Music Day 2024

This event, part of a global initiative in over 1,000 cities, is hosted by the Huntsville Music Office and the Huntsville Hospital Music Therapy Program, and the annual celebration is open to everyone, regardless of skill level.

Confirmed venues include the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce and the downtown branch of the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library. Institutional spaces like Huntsville City Hall and Huntsville Hospital will also host performances.

“This event embodies our vision of becoming a music city, offering everyone a chance to perform, whether you’re a seasoned guitarist or amateur pianist. This event is all about inclusivity and promoting our diverse music ecosystem.”

Matt Mandrella, Huntsville Music Office

Visit the Make Music Day Huntsville website to register as a performer or a venue.

Performers can create profiles detailing their musical style and instruments, while venues can browse and invite artists. Collaboration is encouraged, and performances can range from 15 minutes to longer sessions upon request.

Started in 2007 and presented by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation, Make Music Day occurs on June 21, the summer solstice. Other Alabama cities participating include Decatur, Florence, Gadsden, Gulf Shores and Montgomery.
