Memorial Day 2025: Huntsville + North Alabama gas prices and travel tips

According to AAA Alabama more than 45 million people are expected to travel at least 50 miles from home over the Memorial Day holiday period.

Memorial Day gas prices in Alabama
The good news — gas prices this Memorial Day in Huntsville and North Alabama are about 45 to 50 cents cheaper than in 2024.
As of May 23, 2025, the average gas price for regular gas in Huntsville is $2.71, while at the same time in 2024 it was $3.26.
Here are the prices for several North Alabama municipalities and counties across the state:
- Decatur — $2.67
- Florence — $2.72
- Gadsden — $2.63
- Huntsville — $2.71
- DeKalb — $2.70
- Colbert —$2.68
- Jackson — $2.75
- Lauderdale — $2.77
- Lawrence — $2.68
- Limestone — $2.73
- Madison — $2.70
- Marshall — $2.65
- Morgan — $2.66

- Morgan — $2.66
Most expensive gas statewide (counties)
- Barbour — $2.85
- Greene — $3.02
AAA Alabama recommends “pad travel time, save gas”
Over the Memorial Day holiday weekend AAA Alabama encourages drivers to pad your travel time so you are not rushed when the roads become congested.
