As millennials are moving into their 30s and 40s, they’re getting financially stable and making longer-term decisions about where to live.

Plus, they actually have more spending power and disposable income than Gen X and Baby Boomers had at the same age, according to The Wall Street Journal.

To understand where millennials want to settle down, Commercial Cafe analyzed 103 U.S. metropolitan areas with a population of more than 500,000.

They ranked them based on factors like population trends, income, cost of living, employment, health coverage and educational attainment.

Huntsville came in at an impressive fourth place out of the 103 cities in the study. Here are few reasons why:

  • The Rocket City stood out due to the impressive millennial population growth it’s seen, with a 17.8% increase between 2019 and 2023.
  • Huntsville’s cost of living is 5.6% below the national average.
  • The unemployment rate is extremely low at 2.7%.
  • Nearly half of Huntsville Millennials have a bachelor’s degree or higher (up from 41.2% in last year’s data).
