More local businesses follow suit offering new discounts during government shutdown

On day 26 of the government shutdown, a popular downtown bar, Stella’s Elixir Lounge, announced all-day happy hour to give back to the Huntsville community.
As the shutdown continues, Huntsvillians are feeling the strain as over 21% of residents are government employees + over 36,000 residents rely on a form of government assistance.
Huntsville businesses know the power of our bustling community, and are doing what they can to alleviate the pressure residents are facing by offering discounts until the government shutdown is over.
Here are two of those businesses following in Stella’s footsteps with discounted menus:
Field Day
Field Day recently opened their doors in the Huntsville community and has quickly become a staple destination. Starting October 29, those with a valid government ID will receive 35% off food + 50% off games all day until the end of the shutdown.

Straight to Ale
Since 2009, Straight to Ale has become a cornerstone of the Huntsville community and has expanded to become one of Alabama’s largest production breweries.
Starting October 29, the brewery will be offering 50% off all food items Sunday–Thursday from 4PM to close for furloughed employees + their families with valid government ID.
