Attention job seekers: More than 16,000 jobs available in Madison County

At this point two years ago, jobs in Alabama were scarce, with the state experiencing a huge unemployment rate amid the coronavirus pandemic. However, in 2022, Madison County has become a hot spot for job seekers, with more than 16,000 positions open across the county.

As the country tries to emerge from the coronavirus pandemic, the hefty unemployment number statewide seen in 2020 and 2021 are decreasing rapidly. In fact, Madison County currently lists a 2.5 percent unemployment rate, compared to a 9.9 percent unemployment rate in April of 2020.

Toyota, Lockheed Martin, Space & Rocket Center are among employers with open positions

So, you might wonder, where exactly are these 16,000+ jobs in Madison County? That’s a fair question. Among the multiple companies with job openings in the area is Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, which recently held a job fair to fill nearly 2,000 open positions. MTM said there are about 1,200 positions to be filled at its facility as well as about 800 positions at its partner companies in north Alabama. Job seekers can browse open positions at Mazda Toyota Manufacturing here.

According to Alabama Works, other employers in the Huntsville/Madison County area with a significant numbers of job openings include:

“They could literally be the next person on the moon, might be a space camp alumna. But even bigger than that, just watching people get the dignity of a job, change their lives, grow in a career and participate in something that is bigger than themselves…I mean that’s a lot. And of course you get paid for it.”
