Huntsville area’s Mazda Toyota Manufacturing begins production of the new CX-50
Designed for the North American outdoor lifestyle, the new CX-50 SUV is the latest vehicle to come off the assembly lines at Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, USA in Huntsville. Keep reading to get the freshest details about this new Mazda.
A little bit about the CX-50
Mazda Toyota Manufacturing (MTM) designed the CX-50 with the American driver in mind. According to The Bama Buzz, the CX-50 will only be available in the US and is excitingly made right here in Huntsville, Alabama.
FUN FACT: This mid-sized SUV is a unibody crossover between the CX-5 and CX-30 but with an upgraded heavy-duty offroad power and higher elevation.
The CX-50 will be joining the Toyota Corolla Cross lineup that began back in September. The two vehicles are in separate lines but will be produced out of the same plant.
“The first Mazda CX-50 models rolling down the assembly line at MTM, following on the heels of the debut of Toyota’s Corolla Cross just months ago, means that five different automakers are today building world-class vehicles in Alabama.”
Greg Canfield, Secretary of the Alabama Department of Commerce
Mazda, assemble!
The production line is expected to bring 300,000 vehicles annually, including both the CX-50 and Toyota Corolla Cross. With this boost in production, MTM plans to create 1,200 more jobs, adding a second shift to its workforce.
According to Made in Alabama, Secretary Canfield said MTM is already adding to Alabama’s growing auto manufacturing industry. You can expect to see Alabama produce around 1.3 million vehicles annually—WOW.
We’re thrilled to see this development bring more jobs and revenue to the Huntsville market.
