New John Hunt Park Recreation Center now open in Huntsville

A new rec center has just opened in the Rocket City. The ribbon was cut Monday on the new John Hunt Park Recreation Center, located on 8.5 acres within the park.
The 60,000-square-foot structure offers space for multiple sports, which also opens the facility to hosting a wide variety of events and tournaments.

John Hunt Park Recreation Center includes multiple sports options

Located at 3035 Leeman Ferry Rd., the facility features:
- A gymnasium customizable to four high school regulation basketball courts or eight high school regulation volleyball courts
- A fitness room
- Multi-purpose rooms
- Office space
- Concession facilities
- A structure that provides cover and lighting for 24 competitive play pickleball courts and one elite play pickleball court
This new facility is the latest in a handful of new developments in the last couple of years at John Hunt Park, including:
- U.S. Veterans Memorial Museum
- SkyLume Public Art Installation
- Raymond Jones Community Center
- Sand volleyball court expansion
