The plan to build a new central office and career tech academy for Huntsville City Schools (HCS) has been approved by the Huntsville Planning Commission. The campus will be constructed at the corner of Memorial Parkway and Max Luther Drive.

It’s a $40 million plan for Huntsville City Schools

The plans for the campus were originally announced in September 2022 and will cover around 14 acres. This new development, specifically the central office, will replace what was once the Merts Center.

Expected to open late 2025

HCS has close to 20 different career tech programs, with nearly 5,000 students enrolled in Career & Technical Education with the district. The new central office is expected to increase opportunities for students and partnerships, and in turn, further expand Huntsville’s workforce.

The district plans for students to begin using the new facility during the fall 2025 semester.
