NEW: Virtual school option coming to Huntsville City Schools
Reading time: 2 minutes
Students at Huntsville City Schools will have a new, virtual school option next year, and it’s called Artemis Academy.
Here’s everything you need to know:
What is Artemis Academy?
Artemis Academy will be a hybrid school option for K-12 students. Teaching and learning will happen virtually, but students can receive additional help in person if they need it.
The online academy will be a fully-fledged school with its own principal, counselors and library media specialists. It will even offer special education services.
How will the virtual school work?
All participating Artemis Academy students have an assigned teacher with whom they can schedule office hours for additional support. Students who qualify for free and reduced lunch will be issued a take-home internet option.
Additionally, students can participate in extracurriculars, like sports and band, at the school where they’re zoned. The program will operate out of Blossomwood Elementary and Lee High School campuses for the 2024-2025 school year.
