Oakwood University kicks off Alumni Homecoming Week 2022

Oakwood University alumni will convene in Huntsville this week for Alumni Homecoming Week 2022 April 11-17. Events scheduled for the celebration include student forums, a film festival, the annual Homecoming Give-A-Thon, the alumni basketball basketball tournament, farmers market and more.
What’s on the schedule for Oakwood Homecoming Week
Here is the full slate of events scheduled for Alumni Homecoming Week 2022 at Oakwood University:
Monday April 11th
- 5PM – 8PM: 125 Years Securing the Future Through Entrepreneurship at the McKee Business & Technology Building, a forum presented by students for everyone no matter what your major or profession.
Tuesday April 12th
- 5PM – 8PM: 125 Years Securing the Future Through Entrepreneurship at the McKee Business & Technology Building, a film festival presented by students for everyone no matter what your major or profession.
Wednesday April 13th
- 6AM – 9AM: Alumni Homecoming Give-A-Thon presented by the Alumni Council through the Office of Alumni Relations on WJOU. This is not an in-person event. For more info go to alumni.oakwood.edu
- 5PM – 8PM: Pitch competition in association with OU LaunchPad, presented by students for everyone no matter what your major or profession.
Thursday April 14th
- 9:50AM: Alumni Homecoming Chapel at OUC. A special Homecoming 2022 EDITION to the weekly campus Chapel experience.
- 12PM – 11:30PM: Alumni Homecoming Basketball Tournament at Ashby Auditorium.
Friday April 15th
- 7AM – 2PM: UNCF Golf Classic at Hampton Cove Robert Trent Jones Golf Course
- 8AM – 3PM: Alumni Homecoming Basketball Tournament continues at Ashby Auditorium.
- 10AM – 3PM: Alumni 360, the school’s initiative where Oakwood alumni circle back to their alma mater to network for their profession, and help current students through providing mentoring, internship opportunities and jobs.
- 10AM – 5PM: Oakwood Farmer’s Market with 20 vendors.
- 11AM – 3PM: Alumni Homecoming Kick-off Event Celebration at Oakwood Farms, including music, spoken word, VIP interviews and more.
- 6:15PM: Friday Vesper Program at OUC (In-Person Event & Live Streaming through Oakwood University Facebook & YouTube Channel) Speaker: Pastor Kenneth Manders – president of the Bermuda Conference.
- 7:15PM: Oakwood Honors Program at OUC honoring award-winning singing group “Virtue”, Mr. Harry Swinton, Sr., and Oakwood Presidential Leadership through University Presidents and Oakwood Student Leadership from USM Presidents, especially, the five living university presidents and the 10 USM presidents from the last decade.
Saturday April 16th
- 9:30AM: Alumni Homecoming 2022 Sabbath School at the VBC.
- 10:45AM: Alumni Homecoming Information and Inspiration at the VBC
- 11AM: Alumni Homecoming Divine Worship Service at the VBC. Speaker: Dr. G. Alexander Bryant, NAD President. Music by The Aeolians, and others with our theme “One Faith, One Future, One Oakwood.”
- 5:30PM: Reunion Honor Class Memories Program viewing at OUC.
- 6PM: Sabbath Vesper Program at OUC with speaker Pastor Darnisha Thomas, ‘12 grad.
- 7PM: The Aeolians Concert Under the Direction of Dr. Jason Ferdinand
- 8PM – 12AM: Alumni Homecoming Basketball Tournament continues at Ashby Auditorium.
- 8:30PM – 11PM – ZOOM Reunion Honor Classes
- 9:45PM – 10:15PM: 125-year Fireworks Celebration near the silos.
Sunday April 17th
- 8AM – 10AM – Ride WitUs Huntsville in collaboration with the Office of Alumni Relations. This is a free cycling ride during Oakwood Alumni Homecoming 2022. For all our Oakwood Cyclists and those who simply want to ride, bring your own bike or rent one in the city.
- 9AM – 3PM: Alumni Homecoming Basketball Tournament at Ashby Auditorium
- 10AM – 5PM: Oakwood Alumni Vendor Village Extravaganza at Oakwood Farms surrounding area with 125th Celebration Apparel & items Giveaways, Music, Spoken Word.
- 3PM – 3:30PM: Homecoming Parade will start on University Way near Wade Hall. Parade participants are asked to stage at the Unity Pond, The Parade path is from Wade Hall on University Way through the main gate and ending at Wynn Dr.
