What to know about the project on Old Big Cove Road

Last fall, the City Council approved a $24.7 million agreement with the Alabama Department of Transportation for preliminary engineering, right-of-way acquisition, utilities and construction for approximately 1.5 miles on Old Big Cove Road from Claudia Drive to Taylor Road.
According to a statement from the City of Huntsville, the improvements will enhance connectivity between residential developments and surrounding parks and trails.
“Expanding Old Big Cove Road to five lanes will reduce traffic delays, increase safety, prepare the area for future growth and encourage alternative modes of transportation.”
